This week the city of Lugano announces the opening of the International Fair of artworks on paper – ancient, modern and contemporary, which will be held from the 19th to the 22nd of September in the most important municipality of the whole Canton Ticino.
It is the greatest fair of its kind in the world with regard to the number of galleries taking part and the number of different countries represented, and is, in fact, one of the year’s events most looked forward to by international collectors.
In this 4th edition of 2019, WOPART will consolidate further the course of the exhibition set up in 2016 by dedicating to the artworks an even larger space within the Lugano Exhibition Centre. There will be a total of 7,000 square metres, which will host about 70 Italian and international exhibitors.
In this scenario, WOPART 2019 will add to the art fair’s offerings by providing a programme of Conversations, subdivided into six sections: Modern & Contemporary, Old Master, Dialogues, Emergent, Photography and Project Space.
In the areas of the trade fair complex, amidst the events and the exhibitions proposed, it will be possible to admire a selection of works which belong to the Dalí Universe Collection, one of the largest private collections of Salvador Dalí’s art in the world, put together with great enthusiasm by the Italian art dealer and collector Beniamino Levi, President of the Dalí Universe.
Five Salvador Dalí bronze multiples will be on show in the exclusive Vip Lounge of the Lugano Exhibition Centre for the period of the art Fair founded by Paolo Manazza - painter, journalist and expert in the economics of the arts, from 19th September till Sunday 22nd September.
Dalí Universe is pleased to exhibit Dalí’s works at the same time as the 2019 fourth edition of WOPART, so as to give the public the chance to experience the wealth of iconic images created by the Catalan artist by means of the use of bronze.
“Dance of Time I”, “Nobility of Time”, “Profile of Time”, “Space Venus” and the “Woman of Time” are “the five works in bronze we have selected as examples of the iconic imagery of the Catalan master”, says the President of the Dalí Universe, Beniamino Levi.
For four whole days, the pavilions of Lugano’s Exhibition Centre will be transformed into a magnet for international collectors.
It will be an opportunity to immerse oneself in art and the wealth of its expression, to take part in the events, exhibitions, and, of course, to admire the sculptures of Salvador Dalí in the year 2019, which marks the important anniversary of the death of the great genius of Surrealism, the only one to have declared himself as such by pronouncing the famous phrase: “The only difference between me and Surrealism is that I am Surrealism”.
